An off-beaten path

With fewer crowds and a boatload of family-fun adventure activities, Damayanti Gurtu explores Kamath Residency in Raigad, Maharashtra, situated about 100 kms away from Mumbai, a laidback destination for travellers who believe in mixing work with play.

K amath Residency in Nagothane doesn’t promote itself as a tourist spot. Rather, it prides itself on being an off-beat destination; not easily accessible on the travel map but a getaway zone that needs to be experienced, nonetheless. The fact that it does not give out a tourist vibe, is one of the reasons why the resort is a hit among groups of youngsters and families. That, along with a plethora of adrenaline-rushing activities, adds to the charm of this nature resort.

Playing hide-and-seek on the Mumbai-Goa National Highway, the resort gives the traveller a taste of adventure even before he steps foot. Once he finds the tucked-away resort, the endless greenery and the earthy aroma will immediately make him feel close to nature. Spread over five acres, and a host of cottages, suites, standard and deluxe rooms to choose from, the resort offers a swimming pool and is also equipped to host MICE events. Since Nagothane has an industrial belt, the resort receives plenty of guests belonging to different nationalities. Kamath Residency also has on board a professional team to conduct seminars, orientation and team-building sessions.

The USP of the resort is, of course, its adventure related activities. For those who have no fear of heights, Rock Climbing, Rappelling, Flying Fox, River Crossing and Cliff Jumping might sound like the ideal way to spend one’s day. For others who are water sport lovers, White Water Rafting at Kundalika which is 36 kms from the resort, Kayaking, Jet Ski and Banana Boat Ride can give the guest an opportunity to get his blood pumping. For the rest with a modest desire for adventure, ATV & Mountain Bike Rides which happen at Kolad, as well as Rifle Shooting, are available. After a day spanning adventurous nature activities, a good night’s sleep is guaranteed and if the visitor is lucky the next morning, he may wake up to the view of a rare bird staring back at him, provided he doesn’t scare it away with a selfie.
