Dr Jitendra Singh moots ‘Make in Northeast’

Dr Jitendra Singh , Minister of State (I/C) for DoNER, MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Government of India has mooted “Make in Northeast” initiative, as a follow-up to the “Make in India” initiative inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He also offered to collaborate with all the stakeholders to give each of the eight States of the region an exclusive identity of its own, based on the unique product identified with each of these States.

HRAO to promote Odisha as a 21-night tourist destination

The Hotel & Restaurant Association of Odisha (HRAO) conducted a press meet under the chairmanship of JK Mahanty, Chairman, HRAO, highlighting the rich tourism potential of Western Odisha as well as to promote Odisha as a 21-night tourist destination. To give a boost to Odisha as a 21-night destination, the travel trade has recommended 9 circuits to be developed. HRAO also plans to add around 5,000 hotel rooms in next three to five years with a focus on western region.

Oman Air celebrates the first group of graduates of the MPL Programme

Oman Air announced the graduation of the first batch of MPL cadets as the trainees completed all phases of the Boeing 737 Type Rating Training. Oman Air earlier announced its adoption of a multi-crew pilot license, which is the first license of its kind in the Sultanate in close coordination with the Public Authority for Civil Aviation.

Student Visa Day celebrated at U.S. Embassy and Consulate Generals in India

Marking June 6, 2018, as U.S. Mission India’s fourth annual Student Visa Day, an event that celebrates higher education ties between India and the United States, the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi, and Consulates General in Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Mumbai, welcomed more than 4,000 Indian students to apply for visas to study in the United States. In Mumbai, Consul General Edgard Kagan congratulated the day’s applicants as they joined the growing ranks of Indian students who choose to study in the United States.

Macao to witness the International Dragon Boat Races 2018

Dragon boat activity, voluntarily organised by the community, promotes the development of sports and tourism activities. Athletic teams from different countries are invited to Macao to participate in this sports event enriched with traditional features.Dragon boat teams from Hong Kong, Japan, the U.S., the Philippines, China, Thailand, Singapore, Korea, Australia and Europe frequently participate in the races. Macao International Dragon Boat Races will be held from the 16th to 18th of June at Nam Van Lake Nautical Center.

Madame Tussauds Delhi unveils Virat Kohli’s wax statue

Merlin Entertainments’ Madame Tussauds Delhi has unveiled the wax statue of the Indian Cricket team’s captain, Virat Kohli. The Indian captain, in his signature batting pose joins the list of other sporting sensations like Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Sachin Tendulkar, David Beckham, etc., to be placed in the interactive zone of the wax museum. Kohli’s figure has been crafted from over 200 measurements and photographs taken during the sitting session.

MTDC joined hands with Airbnb to train 500 people under entrepreneurship programme

Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) has collaborated with community-driven hospitality company Airbnb to launch the tourism entrepreneurship accelerator programme under which 500 locals will be trained in the first phase. The programme aims to drive economic growth in local communities by helping micro entrepreneurs in hospitality grow their business through four support areas such as training, enabling, access and promotion. The programme would be launched first in the Elephanta village where MTDC and Airbnb will associate with gram panchayat and identify 35 homes and get aligned with Airbnb standards.
