Destination NSW takes 5 Indian travel agents for ‘Vivid Sydney’

Destination New South Wales recently hosted five key travel agents from India on a trip to Sydney to experience Vivid - a light and sound festival, held in Sydney recently. The agents got a first-hand feel of the light and laser installations that lit up the Opera House, Circular Quay, and Darling Harbour. The agents also travelled to the Hunter Valley, New South Wales’s major wine-producing region and experienced quad biking and dolphin watching in Port Stephens.

 

FHRAI’s 50th annual convention to take place in Bhubaneswar in September 2015

The Federation of Hotel and Restaurant Associations of India (FHRAI) has announced that they will hold the 50th edition of their annual convention from September 25-27, 2015 at Mayfair Convention, Bhubaneswar, Odisha. The theme of the Convention is ‘Atithi Devo Bhava’. More than 1,000 delegates are expected at the event, including hoteliers and stakeholders of the industry.
 
 

TCA Abu Dhabi hosts interactive event for travel trade in Indore

Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi) recently conducted An Evening with Abu Dhabi in Indore. Along with local trade partner, Travstarz and hotel property Yas Viceroy, TCA Abu Dhabi invited travel professionals in Indore over an evening of discovering the attractions of the emirate. There was a presentation, followed by a lucky draw for guests.
 
 

Quantum of the Seas makes maiden call at Kochi

Royal Caribbean International’s cruise ship, Quantum of the Seas earlier this month visited its first Asian port in Kochi, Kerala. The 18-deck, 167,800-gross-registered-ton ship is the largest ever to call at any Indian port and with the highest number of guests onboard, totalling close to 4,000. She is on a 14-night cruise from Dubai to Singapore.

Trinidad and Tobago appoints Kieron Pollard & Dwayne Bravo as brand ambassadors

The twin-island nation of Trinidad and Tobago has appointed cricketers, Kieron Pollard and Dwayne Bravo as brand ambassadors. This was announced at a workshop conducted by Trinidad and Tobago Tourism Development Company Limited for the Indian travel trade in Mumbai and New Delhi recently. The workshop, which was aimed at creating awareness about the tourist attractions of Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, was attended by over 70 tour operators in each city.
 
 

Assam Tourism conducts interactive session in Gujarat

Assam Tourism recently held an interactive session in Ahmedabad, Gujarat to showcase the potential of the state as an ideal tourist destination. Ashutosh Agnihotri, IAS, Commissioner & Secretary, Tourism Department, Govt. of Assam, elaborated on the state’s offerings for tourists, and announced that Assam Tourism is planning an MoU with the Indian Railways to start a tourist train for Assam, which will connect key destinations in the state.
 
 

Telangana celebrates first anniversary of state formation

To mark one year since the formation of the 29th state of India - Telangana, the state government organised festivities in conjunction with districts, municipalities, and municipal corporations. The Telangana Formation Day comprised events such as the first Hyderabad Water Sports Regatta, performances by Qawwal and Hindustani classical singers like Amjad Warsi and Asad Warsi, Siddhi Dhamal Tribal dance performance from Gujarat and Panthi dance performance from Chhattisgarh, and a ballet performance by a group, Chenetha Chamakkulu from Bengaluru.
