Virgin Atlantic restarts daily direct Mumbai-London service

Having withdrawn the service four years ago, Virgin Atlantic has re-launched its daily direct flight between Mumbai (BOM) to London Heathrow (LHR), complementing its long-established route between London and Delhi. The Mumbai flights operate on Virgin Atlantic’s Boeing 787-9 aircraft offering customers the Upper Class and Premium cabins along with three ways to fly Economy – Light, Classic and Delight.

The daily service will depart from Mumbai at 3am to arrive in London at 7.15am, offering seamless onward connections between India and the US. On the return leg, the flight leaves from London at 10.30am to arrive in India at 12.55am. (All times local)

Juha Jarvinen, Executive Vice President – Commercial, Virgin Atlantic, commented, “2019 marks a significant period of growth for Virgin Atlantic and I’m delighted that we’re expanding our route network by returning to Mumbai. Along with our long-standing route to Delhi, we are now able to provide travellers with an increased offering to the thriving Indian market and an opportunity to experience our award winning service between the UK and India. Together with our partners at Delta, we offer an excellent choice of connections to the USA via Heathrow Airport.”

David Hodges, Commercial Manager – India, Virgin Atlantic commented, “We are really excited to now have a daily flight serving Mumbai-London. Amidst the festive season in India, it is a special time to start the flight and we are confident that Mumbai is going to love the best of Bollywood entertainment and the best Indian food onboard our state of the art 787-9 Dreamliner.”

Virgin Atlantic offers chauffeur driven car service for its Upper Class customers anywhere within 75 miles of Mumbai airport, the only direct carrier offering the service on the route. The service is also extended to customers travelling to and from Pune.

The new Mumbai flights marks Virgin Atlantic’s 27th daily service from London Heathrow and its third new route announcement this year. Flights to Tel Aviv, Israel commenced in September 2019, with flights to São Paulo, Brazil starting in 2020, marking the airline’s first venture into South America.
