‘There will be demand for domestic travel from this month’

The fear of Covid-19 is gradually diminishing and people are slowly embarking on travel, said Prashant Pitti, Co-Founder & Director, EaseMyTrip, while addressing a webinar organised by Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) in association with Startup Mentor Board.

Pitti said when air travel started after the lockdown, most of the tickets on their platform were booked from metros and non-metros. However, the trend has changed from September. "We observed that people from small towns are booking in our platform, and the ratio of one-way traffic vs. return journey is 50:50. This indicates, besides returning to workplace, people are also travelling for leisure. Currently, leisure travel is in demand when compared with corporate travel," he said.

According to Pitti, road travel is also popular at present, especially during weekends. "To come out of boredom people have started travelling to short-haul destinations. I believe, from October onwards there will be demand for domestic travel," said Pitti.
