Destination experience aggregator Guiddoo to enter China market

To expand India operations in 15 states and agent network
In-destination experience aggregator, Guiddoo World Travels is all set to enter the Chinese market. The Dubai-based B2B aggregator and listed in Singapore, has a strong presence in India already with a travel agent network of 4,000 in over 10 cities. Guiddoo, according to Vineet Budki, CEO & Founder, will be opening an office in Shanghai this week to offer their products and services to Chinese travel agents and DMCs. “We have built strong end to end contracting in lot of destinations. Therefore, we want to look at opportunities at different source markets now, and China is the first one. The China outbound is quite important considering the numbers have already reached 150 million,” he said.

According to Budki like India, Chinese travellers are also moving from ‘package tours’ to more ‘customised’ and ‘experiential’ travel, and even a small percentage shift towards experiential travel would open up huge opportunities for Guiddoo.“China, of course, is a challenging turf. That is why we are trying to build a Chinese team over there to run the operations. We would get someone with equity as Founding member to lead the team,” Budki said. The target is to bring onboard at least four to five big agents and at least 600 smaller agencies as B2B partners in the first one year, he informed.

Guiddoo has recently added experiential products from new destinations like Jordan, Egypt, Morocco, Turkey, Kenya and Tanzania. The company has strong contracting for niche destination-based products and services in 15 countries across Dubai, Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Maldives, Mauritius, Seychelles, Bali, Thailand, etc. “We are very similar to a DMC.We are truly a DMC aggregator. We work with end suppliers and DMCs, and get those products to travel agents. We do end to end and those too exclusive products which no one else have,” he added.

Budki said that India will continue to be Guiddoo’s core market. The company continues to invest here. Currently, they have a presence in Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Rajasthan. The target is to establish foothold in at least 15 states in the country. The company is exploring expansion in all the Southern states, Delhi, Punjab, Kolkata and Guwahati to take care of the entire the North East region. “We have been growing 10X in the last one-and-half years. The target is to grow the business to USD 1 million in a month this year,” he added.

Talking about Guiddoo’s comparative advantages as a B2B technology company, Budki said that because of the volume of business, they are able to transfer the price advantage to travel agency customers. Guiddoo acts as a one-stop-shop with highest service levels. The Trip Assistant App helps travel agencies to give the entire itinerary to clients online and manage it. “This gives peace of mind to the agents. The travellers rate products and experiences daily and give a feedback. In case of a problem, they can share their views in real time.”

Guiddoo was set up in 2014 in Dubai as an Audio Guide app and transformed into in-destination aggregator two years ago. The company went through few funding rounds since its inception raising USD 1.5 million. The company is in the process of going for the next round funding this year. Budki said that the target is to raise USD 3 to 5 million in the next six months.
