The Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) has appointed Vasuki K. Sundaram as Chairman of the Maharashtra Chapter, taking over the reins from Himanshu Agashiwala. Agashiwala expressed his gratitude to all the people who supported him through his 8-year journey at IATO.

While announcing the appointment of Sundaram, he introduced her as the ‘Iron lady of Maharashtra Tourism’. Sundaram is the Founder & CEO of Wings Tours & Travels Co, and she has also held the positions of chairperson of TAFI, Western Chapter and Joint Secretary at TAFI National Committee.

Sundaram requested all the members to participate and attend every meeting and event of the association to make IATO gain more visibility. She said, “When we come together as one force, nothing can stop us. We are the ones who can collectively distinguish ourselves to contemplate on what is not happening. We are all accessible, but it will really help if the tour operators are quick to response, attend meetings and events as one force. It is very important and critical to be visible because only then our voices will be heard.”

Also present at the election was N.S. Rathor, Chairman, Western Region, IATO, who gave an overview of cruise tourism in the country.

The three of them were later joined by Neela Lad - Regional Director of India Tourism Mumbai, who spoke about the plans and programmes proposed executed by the Ministry of Tourism for the Western Region.
