Confirmtkt, the Bangalore-based online train ticket discovery and booking engine, has announced the launch of its multilingual app. The app will now be available in English and in 7 different regional languages – Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Marathi, Malayalam and Bengali. With the addition of new languages to its platform, Confirmtkt has witnessed a 1.8% increase in its user base, a number which is expected to go up manifold in the upcoming months.

Indian language internet user base is projected to grow at a CAGR of 18% to reach 536 million by 2021, as per a 2017 report jointly conducted by Google and KPMG. The report further states that language internet users will account for 75% of India’s total internet user base. The findings clearly indicate that Confirmtkt’s latest move will enable the company to cater to a wider audience.

Commenting on the launch, Dinesh Kumar Kotha, Co founder & CEO, Confirmtkt said, “Over 50% of Confirmtkt’s users are from non-metros and they prefer to browse in their native language. In fact, we noticed that many of them identify our predictions based on the colour codes as they can’t read the texts written in English. Moreover, some users were not able to navigate through the payment section due to their lack of English proficiency. We decided to address this issue by adding multi-language support to our platform. We want to offer a seamless ticket-booking experience to people; irrespective of their background or the language they speak. From a strategic point of view, we decided to go vernacular keeping in mind the next wave of non-English speaking internet users.”

At present, 3.73% of Confirmtkt’s total bookings are done by non-English users and the company is aiming to further grow its business by launching support for 3 more Indic languages including is Gujarati, Punjabi and Oriya.
