By TBM Staff | Kochi

In a first in the country, the maiden star hotel in the co-operative sector was opened in the Kerala capital, Thiruvananthapuram. The 22-room hotel was built by Kerala Land Reforms and Development Co-operative Society (LADDER) under the State Co-operative Department. The hotel was thrown open for operations by Kadakampally Surendran, Minister for Co-operation and Tourism, Government of Kerala, yesterday.

This is the first hotel project completed by LADDER and another 5-star hotel is in the pipeline in Wayanad. LADDER also has plans to build budget hotels in three more places in the state in the coming years.

Situated in the heart of the city, close to the State Secretariat and the railway station, the three-storey hotel is built at a cost of INR 20 crore with central air-conditioning, a restaurant on the terrace, and a banquet hall with a capacity for 200 people.

The hotel also offers 24-hr free WiFi to guests.
