Prahlad Singh Patel takes charge as Tourism Minister; vows to complete pending projects

Prahlad Singh Patel has assumed charge as the Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Tourism, Government of India in New Delhi last evening. Addressing media soon after taking charge, the Minister said that the Ministry will work to fulfill the Prime Minister’s vision of ‘New India’ by simultaneously investing in strengthening our cultural roots and promoting the tourism sector. "As a Minister I would endeavour to take forward the work done in the tourism sector by the previous Modi government and try to finish projects on or before stipulated time," he said.

The Minister also added that the cultural diversity of India is main cause of attraction for tourists.

"When one talks about tourism, a culturally rich and diverse country that India is, the element of celebrating our culture automatically comes in... Look what happened in Kumbh Mela, the scale with which it was organised by the government, and the message that it conveyed to the society and the world at large," Singh said.
