UP Chief Minister assures all kinds of policy support for investors interested in investing in Hospitality sector in the State

53rd Annual Convention of FHRAI inaugurated in Lucknow
Inaugurating the 53rd annual convention of Federation of Hotel & Restaurant Associations of India (FHRAI) in Lucknow, Yogi Adityanath, Chief Minister of UP has assured all support for those investors who wanted to invest in the hospitality sector in the State.  The government has set a target of an annual investment of INR 5,000 cr in the tourism and hospitality sector in the state each year, he said.  The Chief Minister said that investments to the tune of INR 2,500 cr have already come in into the sector after few months of the UP Investors Meet.

Talking about the opportunities for investment in the State in the tourism and hospitality sector, the Chief Minister said that there are plenty of scopes for investment in varied areas related tourism in the state including hospitality facilities like hotels and restaurants in destinations related to spiritual tourism, eco-tourism, adventure tourism, wildlife tourism, etc. Even in Medical Tourism, the state has made rapid strides in recent years, he added.

The Chief Minister added that the image of the State has improved dramatically and investors from both India and overseas are now having confidence in investing in the state.  Projects worth INR 5 lakh cr were proposed at the UP Investors Meet in February this year and ground-breaking for projects worth INR  60,000 cr have already been made.

Yogi also said that UP has been the biggest beneficiary of all the tourism circuits being announced by the Central government and all of them are connected in one way or the other with Uttar Pradesh.  He cited Ramayana circuit, Krishna Circuit, Spiritual Circuit, Buddhist Circuit, etc.

He said that UP is the heartland of Cultural and Spiritual Tourism and the Kumbh Mela is the biggest spiritual tourism spectacle in the world.  He also mentioned the proposal to set up 100 wellness centres across the State.

Rita Bahuguna Joshi, Tourism Minister of UP in her speech highlighted the attempt on the part of the government to revive a number of festivals associated with tradition and culture of the State to attract tourists.  She mentioned Deepotsav in Ayodhya on the banks of Sarayu River during Dipawali, Rangotsav during Holi, etc.

Talking about investment opportunities, Joshi said that the proposed Kushinagar Airport will open up a new area of investment for people in the tourism sector. She said that Asia’s biggest water sports infrastructure is coming up in Gorakhpur and which will unlock the potential of the region.

The tourism Minister said that the State requires more budget hotels as the profile of travellers coming to UP is more mid-segment tourists.  She also assured single window clearance for all project related approvals for investors.

Around 400 delegates from across India are in Lucknow to participate in the 3-day annual convention and exhibition.
