Tourism to get a budget allocation of INR 2,189 crores in 2019-20

Ministry of Tourism will get an annual allocation of INR 2,189 crores in 2019-20. The Expenditure Budget 2019-20 put out by the Ministry of Finance after the presentation of the Interim Budget by Piyush Goyal, Acting Finance Minister, in the Parliament, has proposed a nominal hike in the allocation for Tourism in this year’s budget.  The allocation for Tourism in the last budget was INR 2,113 crores.

Out of the total allocation of INR 2,189 crores, the budget proposes INR 1,448 crores for Tourism Infrastructure development including INR 1,106 for Central Sector Schemes/Projects. In the allocation for publicity and promotions, the expenditure budget proposes a lesser spending compared to last budget – INR  506.23 crores in place of INR 543 crores in 2018.

The allocation proposed for Civil Aviation in the Interim Budget for 2019-20 stands at INR 4,500 crores and for Railways at INR 64,587 crores.
