National Tourism Advisory Council to meet at Kevadiya in Gujarat for two days from tomorrow

National Tourism Advisory Council (NTAC), the think-tank of the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India comprising industry experts from both government and private sector, will meet at the ‘new tourism icon of India’, the Statue of Unity in Kevadiya in Gujarat for two days starting tomorrow, February 21.  

The meeting will be chaired by KJ Alphons, Minister of State with Independent Charge of Tourism.

The objective of the brainstorming, as per the Ministry of Tourism, is to evolve strategies to achieve a target of 5 million visitors to the Statue of Unity by next year.

 Apart from regular members of the NTAC, experts from the hospitality, travel and tour industry have been invited to attend the meeting.  

 The present NTAC was constituted in October, 2016 under the Chairmanship of the Minister of Tourism with tenure of 3 years. The committee constitutes important Ministries, individual experts in the field of travel and tourism management and Ex-officio members from the industry associations.

The world’s tallest statue of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel is 182 meter tall and was completed at a record time of less than three years at an cost of nearly INR 3,000cr.
