Uttar Pradesh government welcomes Maharashtra to participate in ‘Prayagraj Kumbh Mela 2019’

Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) along with the Government of Uttar Pradesh has promoted ‘Prayagraj Kumbh Mela 2019’ and invited Maharashtra to participate through a press conference at Trident Hotel, Mumbai.

“More than 12 crore pilgrims are expected to visit Prayagraj Kumbh Mela 2019 starting January 15 at Prayagraj formerly known as Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh. 3 crore pilgrims expected on Mauni Amavasya, 20 lakhs pilgrims expected daily and expected foreign tourists are around 10lakhs” said Suresh Kumar Khanna, Minister of Urban Development, Parliamentary Affairs, Govt of Uttar Pradesh while announcing the details of Kumbh Mela 2019.

He said, “This event is organised at four places in the country.  The event held at Prayagraj itself is a subject of attraction and curiosity for the country and the world.  Following the efforts made by Narendra Modi, PM, India, UNESCO has included Kumbh in the list of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.” 

Sunil Khanna Past Chairman – CII Maharashtra State Council, President - Managing Director, Vertiv, during the conference said, “CII is proud to be associated with one of the kind event which showcases Indian traditions and is of historical and mythological relevance.”  

A special address was by Sanjay Kumar, Special Secretary – Urban Development, Government of Uttar Pradesh.

To seek support for Kumbh Mela 2019 from Maharashtra state Khanna met Devendra Fadnavis, CM, Maharashtra, and handed over an invitation on behalf of Yogi Adityanath ji, CM, Uttar Pradesh. The team also discussed the preparation by the state for this sought-after event.

 Khanna and his team also presented the Kumbh Logo and showcased the preparation for Kumbh Mela 2019 through a small video depicting the history of Kumbh.

Khanna showcased the efforts made by the Government of India by making an historic increase in number of flights by getting constructed a new air civil terminal in Prayagraj. “Prayagraj has been connected through air route to the country's several main cities like Bengluru, Indore, Nagpur, Patna etc. A heliport is also being set up here and arrangements are being made to provide the facility of helicopter joy ride to tourists.”
