Tata Sons asks employees to avoid domestic travel

Tata Sons has asked its employees to avoid even non-essential domestic travel, and limit essential face-to-face meetings to 20 people, as the number of people infected with Covid-19 grows in India, reports Jochelle Mendonca in the Economic Times.

The World Health Organization has declared the disease a global pandemic and India has suspended all visitor visas, preventing foreigners from entering the country.

“Please stop all non- essential travel – whether domestic or international, until further notice,” the Tata Sons advisory said. The previous advisory sent earlier in the month, asked employees to discontinue non-essential international travel. ET was shown a copy of the advisory.

The advisory also asks employees to avoid large face-to-face meetings and gathering and to restrict essential face-to-face meetings to 20 people.

The USD 100 billion conglomerate also wants employees who have returned from domestic or international travel in the last 14 days to submit their health records and travel history.

It is not clear whether the policy will apply to all group employees or just those of the parent. Tata Sons did not immediately respond to a request for comment. (Source: Economic Times)
