‘RoomsXpert is targeting more than 500 clients by month-end’

RoomsXpert is a B2B travel website that enables corporate customers to book hotels spread over 87,000 cities in 190 countries after comparing rates from around 70 different channels. The login-based aggregator platform is a technology startup which promises savings to the tune of 30 to 50% for corporate customers, apart from the convenience of online hotel room booking. Launched in 2016, the promoters are in the process of adding new aspects like loyalty programmes and a mobile application soon. TravelBiz Monitor spoke to Rahul Chauhan, Founder of RoomsXpert.

Q RoomsXpert is an exclusive platform for corporate hotel booking. What made you create such a platform? What type of gap in the services, rendered by other channels, are you trying to fill?
When it comes to choosing a hotel, a retail customer has multiple options, but a corporate customer doesn’t have this luxury. Sensing this gap, we came up with the idea of starting an online hotel booking portal which is exclusively meant to serve corporate clients alone. It is simpler, effective and flexible as per the needs of the corporate.

Ours is a login-based aggregator platform, where the client can compare prices from different websites. It has a truly worldwide network allowing hotel reservation in 87,500 cities across more than 190 countries. Our platform promises a saving of 30% every time a client books with us.

Q What is the kind of hotel inventory that you have on your website? What type of partnerships have you established with consolidators and other channel partners to make your offer robust and global?
We have more than 10 lakh hotels on our platform. We have all the major international websites to compare prices from. Besides B2C rates, we also have B2B rates to compare prices from. Being a login-based system, it’s easier for us to provide the best of the rates. We have partners coming in from India, Australia, Russia, US, and China, among others.

Q How do you plan to expand business in the Indian corporate travel segment? How do you want to make a difference in that?
We have been heavily testing the market since our inception (more than two years ago). For that, we have done more than 20 iterations in our business model, to gain acceptability from all kinds of clientele. We currently target adding more than 500 clients by the end of this year. We are also getting great interest from international markets, with one client on board and few in the pipeline.

In order to fuel such fast-paced growth, we are having feet on the ground, with a robust online support along with the technology. We have strategically divided our target customers into different segments to fulfill their requirements.

Q What are the benefits and discounts being offered to your corporate customers?
RoomsXpert provides its customers a hotel booking platform wherein they can find the same hotel room from more than 70 different websites, assuring the best possible rates every time. We have a tie-up with nearly all major independent hotels and hotel chains offering our customers with over ten lakh hotel options. With a large mix of aggregators in the market, RoomsXpert is a one of its kind platform, offering the best, not just in terms of pricing, but also service and technology.

We are also planning to have a referral/loyalty programme,which should be live in the next two months.

We have price comparison from more than 70 websites with both retail & travel agent prices. With a focus on corporate clients, our platform is designed keeping in mind their requirements.

We pass on direct price benefits to our clients so that they can really feel the cost saving. At times the cost saving can go up to 50%, but we promise a saving of 30%.

Besides price, we are also focused on customer service, which is a top priority for us. We really value all the feedback.

Q Since inception what has been the annual volume of bookings? How do you plan to grow that going forward?
Since our inception, we have increased room nights to the current room nights of 40,000 per year. Further, we have an objective of 4,00,000 room nights annually in the next 2 years. The mantra is adopting technology to the maxima.

Q Did you plan for any specific strategies in future in terms of upgrading, adding new features, investments, etc.?
Our platform is technology driven. In terms of strategy, we are reaching out to the market through both online and offline route. We are also building an App which should be ready for launch by the next financial year. We are making a very simplified web version where it will be extremely easy to book a hotel. We have grown 10x in the last two years and now we are targeting to take the growth to 100x level.
