‘Public Private Partnership is very important for the development of any destination’

Auric Air has the widest network of its scheduled flights in Tanzania and connects all the major tourist destinations in the country. Deepesh Gupta, Business Development, Auric Air Services Limited, speaks to TravelBiz Monitor about various aspects and offerings of the airline.

Q. What kind of air connectivity does Auric Air offer in Tanzania?
A.Auric Air connects to all tourist destinations like Serengeti, Kilimajaro, Arusha, Selous, Zanzibar, Mafia, Ngorongoro; commercial destinations like Iringa, Songea, Dodoma, Morogoro, Ifakara, Pemba, Tanga, various mine sites and oil & gas exploration sites in Tanzania. We have the widest network of our scheduled flights in Tanzania to over 30 destinations. We provide chartered flights from and to any destination in entire East Africa.

Q.What are your plans to increase number of flights or cities?
A.We are planning to expand our wings into neighboring countries.

Q.What is your load factor in the last quarter?
A.We enjoy an average load factor of 65% on all our scheduled flights.

Q.Do you have any plans to induct new aircraft?
A.We inducted brand new purchased Caravan EX earlier last month. We plan to increase our fleet size to 15 Caravans from the present 13.

Q.Do you work with Zanzibar Tourism Promotion Commission (ZPTC) to enhance tourism?
A.Yes, we collaborate with ZTPC to promote the cities we offer connections to. One needs to understand that Public Private Partnership is very important for the development of any destination.

Q. What are your in-flight services?
A.We provide light refreshment on board each of our flight. Besides, we have our own in-flight magazine.

Q. Any plan to enter into code-share agreement with international airlines?
A.We are open to such agreements.

Q. How important do you think is the Indian market for Tanzania and Zanzibar Tourism?
A.The Indian tourist market to Tanzania and Zanzibar is very important. For any business, good volumes are of high importance, and India is one market which can give us numbers. The younger generation has that excitement to undertake holidays to great adventure destinations, and I am quite sure that Tanzania and Zanzibar offer that opportunity.
