Besides outbound ‘The Travel Therapist’ to explore domestic tourism segment

Q What is the idea behind setting up The Travel Therapist?
Travel as a therapy has been a concept since ages, and ‘The Travel Therapist’ is more than just going for a holistic massage or a counseling session. Travel can be therapeutic in today’s rat race where all of us are stressed and don’t have time for ourselves. The Travel Therapist is based on the understanding of what exactly the client is looking for in a holiday, and identifying the needs of the traveller for the therapy to work right.

Q With so many travel companies in the market today, how will The Travel Therapist standout?
The whole idea is to encapsulate a mix and match of stereotypes in a destination with some unique additions to the itinerary and promote unknown products which haven’t been marketed on a large scale. Be it a couple, family or a part of group, The Travel Therapist will look into curating experiences at an individual level for a wholesome experience and best serve the client.

Q What made you foray into the entrepreneurship side of the business?
I have been a travel professional for 15-16 years, having worked for companies like Tourism Australia, Raj Travels, Kuoni, etc., but never really had strategic plans for starting my own company. The portal of The Travel Therapist was set up in just one day. Since communication has become online, it saved a lot of time and I managed to create a website that is minimalistic, appealing and user-friendly, serving the purpose and kind of travel I want to promote.

Q Which are the traveller segments you will focus on?
My focus has always been international since that’s my expertise, but along with that I believe India has a huge potential from a tourism perspective. I have always believed that you learn something new every day, hence as an entrepreneur I realized that there is a great opportunity to learn and earn from domestic tourism, of which I have limited knowledge. More importantly, as an Indian I would like to showcase my country in a different manner.

Q What is your strategy for B2B and B2C segments?
I am purely a B2C agent. My strategy is very simple and thought after. To start with, we would have a brief one-on-one conversation with our clients and understand what they really expect during his/her vacation. Studying the destination and coming up with some personal insights for the itinerary is another important aspect of planning one’s trip. The plan is to try and find a middle ground between the client’s budget and their needs.

For B2B, I have been spreading the word right from day one. Being a part of the fraternity, I am well connected with the travel industry players, having built a strong network with tourism boards and service providers. As of now the response has been very encouraging.
