Dr Ashish Dahiya, Head of Department of Institute of Hotel & Tourism Management, Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU), Rohtak was shot at and injured allegedly by a former student of the institute. Dr Dahiya was alone at his office while the incident took place in the morning yesterday. He was rushed to PGI MS Rohtak by students and faculty of the institute and was operated upon.
When contacted by TravelBiz Monitor, Mohinder C Dhiman, Professor of Tourism & Hotel Management, Kurukshetra University, a close friend of Dr Dahiya, said that two bullets that hit his stomach have been removed through the operation. He confirmed that Dr Dahiya is “out of danger”.
Joined MDU as an Associate Professor and Reader, Dr Dahiya was promoted recently as the Head of Hotel & Tourism Management of the Institute. Last week, Dr Dahiya was bestowed with ‘Atithya Ratan Puraskar’ by HNB Garhwal Central University.
