The 12th annual Chandiwala Hospitality Ensemble (CHE), organised by Banarsidas Chandiwala Institute of Hotel Management & Catering Technology (BCIHMCT) New Delhi, will be held from September 25-27 in New Delhi. According to the organisers of the event, more than 30 culinary institutes from across the country have so far confirmed their participation this year. CHE, the first edition of which was held in 2001 with a participation of just seven teams, is a culinary competition for budding young talent in the hospitality education segment. Students participate in almost 20 different competitions, which include both individual and team events.
Besides regular competitions like floral decoration, facility planning & designing championship, cocktail mixing competition, bakery & pre-plated dessert contest, regional Indian culinary contest, vegetable carving contest, cake baking competition, etc., this year the organisers have added 'Rediscovering Indian Cuisine Challenge 2013' to bring to the forefront conventional and ethnic food.
The annual event has evoked strong support from hospitality suppliers and hotel brands. Indian Culinary Forum (ICF), an association of professional chefs in North India, has been supporting CHE for the last couple of years, and so has InterContinental Hotel Group (IHG). R K Bhandari, Principal, BCIHMCT, said that the event was one of the best examples of active interface between industry-institution and could work more effectively towards academic excellence, innovations and improvement in quality.
Gopal Rao, Regional Vice President – Sales & Marketing, InterContinental Hotel Group - South-West Asia, will inaugurate CHE in the presence of Sanjeev Sethi, Director – Human Resources, Hyatt Regency Delhi. The event will conclude with an award ceremony and dinner. Rajan Bahadur, COO, The Grand New Delhi, will be the Chief Guest at the awards ceremony.
