Taiwan Tourism launches '2 20:20' marketing campaign in India

Taiwan Tourism has launched ‘2 20:20’ marketing campaign in the Indian market to enhance the destination visibility and brand awareness. The objective of the strategic campaign is to Target ‘2%’ of the Indian outbound market, which is high-end, through targeted marketing, to attain a ‘20%’ growth from India to Taiwan. For that, Taiwan Tourism will work closely with ‘20’ select tour operators in India which handle the bulk of the premium outbound traffic.

Taiwan has received 35,000 Indian visitors in 2017, and registered a visitor growth of 10.33% between January and October, 2018 compared to corresponding months of 2017.

Speaking to TravelBiz Monitor after announcing the partnership with Inox cinemas in Delhi, Trust HJ Lin, Director, Taiwan Tourism Bureau and Taiwan Visitors Association Singapore Office, said that the new campaign will focus majorly on six key cities in the country like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Kolkata and Hyderabad.  The Tourism Bureau plans outdoor advertising in key locations including airports and shopping malls in these cities to reach the target audience with Taiwan branding. 15 premium shopping malls have been identified for promotions in these cities, he said.

Similarly, 52 cinema halls in these cities will show destination promotion commercials of Taiwan. These include 43 Inox cinema halls and 8 PVR cinema halls, Lin said.He said that exclusive TV commercials for India market is in the making and will be rolled out early next year.

Lin said that Taiwan is known in India as an IT and technology island and there is lack of awareness about the Taiwan as a tourism destination here. “The purpose behind these campaigns is to build tourism branding and awareness in the market,” he said.Considering the air capacity constraints from India to Taiwan, Lin said that they will also encourage Indian tour operators to promote “stop over programme” with Hong Kong or Singapore for India market.

He said that Taiwan has a very “friendly Visa programme” for Indians.  Group visas can be processed together in case the group size is 5 pax or more online within a day that too free of charge, Lin said. Similarly, people have valid long term visa for the US, UK, Schengen, etc. can get e-Visa free of charge, he added.
