Commitment for INR 1 lakh crore investment in airport infrastructure in next 5 years: Jayant Sinha

Addressing the delegates at the ongoing CAPA India Aviation Summit in Delhi, Jayant Sinha, Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Government of India, said development of airport infrastructure is a priority for the government for which there is a commitment for investment of INR 1 lakh crore in the next five years. 

“We have thoroughly transformed aviation in the last 5 years. No other country has made such drastic favourable policy changes in a short period. It's now the private entrepreneurs to come in and invest in the sector taking advantage of the favourable policies and market demand,” he said.

He said that efforts are to decongest metro airports by expanding the  current capacity in terms of terminals and additional runways at Delhi, Bangalore, etc, work is on at war footing to set up new infrastructure around metro airports. Hindan airport in Delhi NCR will become fully operational by next month and act as as key for Regional connectivity. Similarly, Jewar intl airport in Delhi NCR is also planned to cater to the future demand, he added.
