IAAI launches Air Passenger Rights Forum to offer free consultation on air passenger grievances

IATA Agents Association of India (IAAI), an association of IATA accredited travel agents in India, has decided to launch a dedicated free consultation service to air passengers to settle their grievances regarding product and service delivery issues with airlines.  The initiative has been taken considering the increasing cases of flight delays, baggage losses, etc. being reported at airports and the inconveniences that is being meted out by passengers without proper redressal on the part of the airline companies.

The Forum will be known as IAAI Air Passengers Rights Forum.

With the growth of air travel, the incidents of flight delays, baggage losses and other cases of negligence on the part of the airlines also started increasing like never before, said Biji Eapen, President of IAAI.  Neither the passengers nor the travel agents know about the rights of the passengers guaranteed under the Air Passenger Charter Act of 2019, he added. He said that the exercise is to educate, create awareness about passenger rights enshrined in the charter.

“We have already handled few cases came to us and helped passengers get their rightful compensation from the respective airlines.  Therefore, as a responsible trade association we decided to offer our consultation free of charge in future,” said Eapen.
