With an objective to enhance the academia and travel and hospitality industry partnership, the Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI) has signed a Memorandum of Association (MoU) with DY Patil University School of Hospitality & Tourism Studies, Navi Mumbai. The MoU was signed by Jay Bhatia, Chairman - Tourism Council, National Treasurer, TAAI and Vandana Mishra Chaturvedi, Director, DY Patil University School of Hospitality & Tourism Studies, Navi Mumbai. Also present on the occasion was Sampat Damani, Chairman, Western Region, TAAI.
Commenting on this development, Bhatia said, "This partnership with the academic institution will help develop future relations between tourism and hospitality industry and the institutions which prepare the students who shall work in this industry in future. Through this MoU, TAAI will aim at encouraging student participation in the industry. We will assist DY Patil University School of Hospitality & Tourism Studies by providing internships to the students, guaranteed placements and interactions with leaders and learned people of the industry through various guest lectures. We have signed such MoUs earlier also with some renowned institutes in Mumbai, Bengaluru, Varanasi, Pondicherry and other cities of India. Through these MoUs, our target is to develop an efficient and enlightened future of tourism and hospitality industry.”
For our students industry exposure is important and practical learning is always an efficient way to teach them, said Chaturvedi. “We are securing the future of our students and also the tourism and hospitality industry. It is a give and take relationship as the industry needs man power and institutions need exposure for their students. This is our first partnership with an association and we look forward to more such partnerships with experts so that we can help our students learn more about the industry."
