Amidst flight cancellations attributed to crew unavailability, senior officials of Vistara reportedly convened with pilots on Wednesday to address rostering concerns and discuss new contracts, as per insider information.
Sources familiar with the situation revealed that approximately 26 flights were cancelled by the Tata Group airline on Wednesday alone.
In light of some pilots calling in sick to protest against the revised pay structure, Vistara had canceled more than 100 flights over the past two days. Consequently, the aviation regulator DGCA urged the airline to furnish a daily report on cancellations and delays.
Reportedly, CEO Vinod Kannan and other key figures from Vistara conducted a virtual meeting with pilots to tackle their grievances, with participation from human resources officials and representatives from other departments.
As of now, Vistara has not released an official statement regarding the meeting with the pilots.
Sources indicated that flight operations are gradually normalising, evidenced by a reduction in flight cancellations. Allegedly, airline officials assured pilots that rostering issues and extended working hours would be addressed by May, primarily stemming from increased utilisation of the existing pool of pilots.
Vistara boasts around 1,000 pilots, with approximately 200 undergoing various stages of training.
