The Consulate General of India & Samten Hills Dalat Host “Odisha – The Land of Peace” Cultural Event

 

The Consulate General of India in Ho Chi Minh City joined hands with Samten Hills Dalat in Lam Dong Province, Vietnam, to present the “Odisha – The Land of Peace” Cultural Experience. This initiative aimed to strengthen bonds and promote meaningful cultural exchanges between the people of India and Vietnam.

The event commenced with a ceremonial inauguration led by Dr. Madan Mohan Sethi, Consul General of India in Ho Chi Minh City. Dr. Sethi lauded the rich cultural heritage of Odisha, describing it as a hidden treasure of India. He highlighted the historical ties between Odisha and Vietnam, dating back over a millennium, and underscored the spread of Buddhism from Odisha to various parts of Southeast Asia during the reign of Ashoka The Great.

Dr. Sethi underscored the event’s significance in bolstering tourism ties between Lam Dong, Vietnam, and Odisha, India. He reiterated the shared commitment to showcasing each other’s distinct attractions as premier tourist destinations, thereby fostering cultural and tourism exchanges between the two nations.

Additionally, Dr. Sethi praised Samten Hills Dalat as a magnificent Buddhist architectural marvel nestled amidst breathtaking hills. He hailed it as a haven for spiritual seekers and enthusiasts seeking serenity and rejuvenation. Dr. Sethi expressed confidence that this landmark would attract visitors from around the world, further solidifying cultural and tourism connections between Vietnam and India.

Trần Thị Thảo Nguyên, a member of the Board of Directors at Samten Hills Dalat, expressed deep gratitude for the collaboration with the Consulate General of India and the commemoration of ‘Odisha Day’ at the venue. Highlighting Samten Hills Dalat’s distinction as home to the world’s largest prayer wheel recognised by the Guinness World Records and the Vajrayana Buddhist Spiritual Cultural Space certified by the Vietnam Federation of UNESCO Associations, Nguyên emphasised the venue’s international recognition and its hosting of various domestic and international events. She extended heartfelt appreciation for the harmonious relationships that have cultivated a tranquil ambiance at Samten Hills Dalat, making it a cherished destination for all.

The event’s centerpiece was the enchanting Odissi dance performances by esteemed artists Saswat Joshi and Sagarika Mohanty, captivating the audience with their graceful movements and expressive artistry.
